Good Dog! Active, Affectionate Dog Playgroups

maximouth.jpg

There are many benefits to regular socialization and recreation for dogs, not the least of which is your confidence that you are doing everything you can to ensure the happiness, health and general sense of fulfillment that your dog experiences from spending time with his own kind.

Dogs who get enough exercise and face-time with other dogs are better behaved, longer lived and more fun to be around. Dogs that don't get enough socialization tend to have an over-abundance of energy, are more destructive, and can come off as aggressive to other dogs due to becoming over-excited in their presence. Problems with lack of early (puppy-stage) socialization can be far worse.

Our mission is to give every dog the kind of play and exercise that he craves. Each dog is different, and we take great pleasure in getting to know them and finding ways to enhance their play style with one-on-one interaction. We strive to provide each dog with what he needs to have a great time.  While we're at it, using non-aversive training methods, we reinforce good manners while discouraging bad habits.

Who are Teal and Erik?

Erik and Teal Heise are the sole proprietors and sole operators of Good Dog! This means that when you hire Good Dog! to care for your dog, you know that he will be seeing one of our smiling faces every day, and not some random employee or independent contractor.

Before Teal started Good Dog!, she worked for Barbara Delman at Puppy Pause. There she learned the intricacies of the dog-walking business, as well as furthering her knowledge of companion animal care. She graduated with honors from the rigorous and highly-respected SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers. Her knowledge continues to grow, as she learns from the dogs, other trainers, and the current literature.

Erik is a dog-loving chef who left the kitchen in 2004 to join his wife in her business with the dogs they both love! He is a certified pet first aid instructor.

From Teal: "My decision to start my own business had far more to do with a love of dogs than a love of commerce. I get to spend each day running and playing with 'my' wonderful dogs, and the sense of fulfillment I get from seeing them blossom and have a good time is the greatest reward I've found in this life."
